Top 10 Scam or Hack Modus in Cabal Online PH

Top 10 Scam or Hack Modus in Cabal Online PH

The Cabal Online PH gaming community is no exemption from the mischief of bad people. They try to trick other players, and sometimes pretend to be a Game Master or a guildmate in order to influence your actions, borrow your items or alz, and worst, to get your account details. Regardless of who you are talking to in-game, never, ever give your login information to anybody else!

Here are the most common tricks of scammers that you should be aware of. Cabalists, avoid becoming a victim!

Top 1. Fake GM Shout / Chat / Whisper

It looks like a chat from [GM] Jinghiro, but no, it is not. It was another line of megaphone shout from a player named zKieffer. The scammer made it looked like the GM was sending you a personal message to claim rewards from a hack site.

If you are a newbie, you will more likely be tricked by this scam modus. To avoid being scammed, make sure to know the correct and legit website links of the Cabal PH. Take note: GMs won't send you a whisper or personal message like this.

Top 1. Fake GM Shout / Chat / Whisper

Remember: GM shouts have a special, yellow GM icon on the left side of their character names in the chat box, and they don't ask you to login to some random websites.

If you see a chat like this, take a screenshot and report it here.

Top 2. Claim Freebies in Scam / Hack Sites

Similar to #1, this is another megaphone shout from a player with an IGN of lCABALPHl, stating an announcement to claim rewards from a scam site. They use names like Cabal, Playpark, or GM or Moderator names, in order to make players believe that this kind of announcement is real. If you will notice, the website address is weird and sometimes built in free-hosting sites.

Remember: Rewards from events will either be awarded via GM in-game mail, inserted to inventory, or otherwise be stated in the official channels. You don't need to login somewhere to claim your rewards.

Claim Freebies in Scam / Hack Sites

If you happen to view this scam site, you will see something like below. See how cool the rewards are so they can lure you to type your info! You will be asked to enter your username, password, subpassword, and even your father name! Complete login details plus a possible answer to your secret question.

Remember: GMs don't need your login details to send you your event prizes. In most cases, they only need your Character name and Server.

If you see a chat like this, take a screenshot and report it here.

Top 3. In-Game Mail

A random player suddenly sends an in-game mail to you, saying that you can check your rewards or freebies at a certain scam site. Again, if you are familiar with the official website links, you will immediately notice that this is not a legitimate website.

Top 3. In-Game Mail

If you see an in-game mail like this, take a screenshot and report it here.

4. Fake Account Website Login

Take a look! They almost copied the whole account and top up website exactly! The only weird thing is that there is a subpassword text box in order to login. LOL. The legit website will only have username and password text fields, and the website link is weird and hosted on a free-hosting site, take note.

Remember: The official account and top up website for Cabal Online PH is https://play.levelupgames.ph

If you see a scam site like this, you can report it to the hosting website.

5. Guildmate / Buddy Poser

Scenario: You and your guildmate were hanging out or chatting in town, then suddenly sent you a whisper or personal message. The poser will ask you to reply back to their PM, or borrow some alz or items. You would sometimes noticed that they call you by your character name, and not your usual nickname or whatever you call the other person. They will target your in-game items or alz, so if your guildmate is not AFK, ask him/her in your guild chat, or check the spelling of the character name.

If you encounter this modus, immediately inform your guildmates that there is a poser. In my case, I trashtalked the poser, LOL. You can also add them to you block list so you can avoid receiving messages from this scammer.

6. Cancelling Personal Shop (Vend) or Trade Transaction

Scenario: A player is selling items and is in vend mode, then you will try to negotiate with the item price. When you both agree on the final price, the scammer will vend the item again, but even before you can buy it, he/she will cancel the personal shop again, and then try to vend the item again.

This will trick the buyer that the seller is still vending the same item, but then, the seller will finally vend another item which maybe a junk or a normal item, and you will be tricked to buying that junk instead of the original item.

The same can be done with Trading transactions.

7. Facebook Friend Request and a Poser

The scammer will create a dummy account on Facebook. They mostly use pictures of pretty girls pretending to be girl gamers. Once you add them, they will start to chat you. And when you became close enough, they will try to ask you questions to gain information, or borrow items. Beware of this, especially you guys who like pretty girls! LOL

Remember: Don't add people on Facebook that you don't really know.

8. Pretending to be your Facebook Friend

The scammer will create a dummy account by copying your friend's Facebook profile picture. They will try to ask for your login details, or borrow alz or items from you.

Remember: Always check if you are already friends with the people you chat with. Check their profiles if they happen to ask or borrow anything.

9. Please LIKE this or that on Facebook

There is a recent modus that can hack your Facebook by simply clicking a link. The scammer will try to send you a link, asking you to LIKE a picture for a random contest (or whatever reason), but if you noticed that the Facebook link is written with "apps.facebook.com" in it, then most likely it will be an app that will execute a script that can potentially hack or penetrate your Facebook account. Beware of it.

10. Buying Game Accounts, then Seller will Claim that it was Hacked

This is the very reason why CABAL PH is against the buying/selling of game accounts. The owner of the account will always have the right to retrieve the account, so even if you have proofs of chats between the owner, the owner can always re-claim the account.

If you really want to buy an account, you can try buying it with some legal stuff - a written proof of purchase with both buyer and seller's signatures, IDs, and notarized by an attorney. So that when things go wrong, you can provide your proof.

But bottom line is - just don't buy. I don't recommend buying/selling of accounts, too.

OK! So those are the top 10 scam or hack modus that Cabal players should be aware of! Take good care of your accounts, because as per game policy, it is your responsibility to make your game accounts secured and safe!

  2. Add the drop item scam. This works for newbie. It happened to me. Scammer1 will ask you for help to scam scammer2. You won't know that they are a partner scammer. Scammer1 will invite you to party with scammer2 then scammer1 will "convince" scammer2 that there is a bug when you drop the item it will double. Then to prove to scammer2 that it will work, scammer1 will ask you to drop some important item to prove. If you drop an item they will kick you out of the party then BOOM! You can't get your item.
